Anton for England?

Ferdinand is now being talked about as a possible outsider for the England World Cup squad. Although Erikson is likely to go for players with internationl and/or Champion League experience if he picked on form Anton would be a shoe in. Even ignoring Campbell's obvious problems at the moment Anton has proved to be one of the top three defenders in the Premiership this season. Consider these facts:

Only Carragher and brother Rio have made more tackles this season.

Anton has won 8% more of his tackles than John Terry

Anton has made more blocks than Rio, Terry, King, Carragher and Campbell (in fact more than Carragher and Campbell put together)

Made more clearances than any of the above centre halves

Made more interceptions than all but Rio

Is only one of three outfield players to play every minute this season (i.e. is not injury prone)

and he scored this goal ....
