No Excuses

Speaking on the West Ham official site Alan Pardew admits West Ham's recent performances have been below par,

"I don't want to use any excuse to the paying public for the performance that we put in today. We're just not having too much good fortune and things aren't going our way at the moment, but there can be no disguising the fact that this was a sub-par performance from us.

We've been well-supported for all three games but while we've been competitive, we haven't given our fans a real stirring, showboating West Ham United performance and that's a big disappointment for me."

Obviously bedding in two new players does take time. Tevez in particular is a different type of forward than Ashton, Zamora and Harewood and needs the ball to his feet and a little deeper. It will take a while for the other players to get used to his style of play.

However I think West Ham's current poor form started before the arrival of Tevez and Mascherano. Of the new arrivals Paintsil looks to have solved our right back problems and when George McCartney recovers he will hopefully be given a chance at left back, which Konchesky seems to be making our problem position this year.

Luckily West Ham's next two league games are away to a struggling Man City side and a home game against Reading. If we can get at least four points from these two games this will hopefully restore some confidence to the team.
