Tevez & Mascherano Could Cost £60 Million

According to The Telegraph the transfer of Tevez & Mascherano could cost West Ham up to £60 million (or £35 million if you believe The Guardian), but only if they try to keep the players. The paper claims that West Ham's deal with Corinthians has involved only a small fee, but West Ham have agreed to hefty sell-on clauses in the event of another club making a bid. It is believed that if a £30 million bid for either is tabled, then West Ham must sell or pay Corinthians the same amount to keep them.

If West Ham do sell they will only get a small percentage of any sell-on fee. Corinthians are also understood to have negotiated an option to buy them back at the same price West Ham have paid.

The paper also reports that Kia Joorabchian denies this is part of a takeover plan and insists the deal came about because of the good relationship built up with West Ham chairman Terry Brown during negotiations to buy the club last year,

"A lot of it was to do with the relationship we had with them from last year. That made it very easy to get the deal done."
