West Ham Draw Palermo

West Ham have been drawn against Italian team Palermo in the UEFA Cup First Round. The first leg will be played at Upton Park. The first-round matches are played over two legs on 14 and 28 September. The winners of this tie will qualify for the group stage.

Unione Sportiva Città di Palermo finished 8th in Serie A last year. Palermo also played in the UEFA Cup last year as well (for the first time in their history). Palermo topped their table in the group stage and were defeated in the last sixteen by Schalke 04 (3-1 aggregate score).

The town of Palermo (Palermu in Italian, Paliermu or Paliemmu in Sicilian) is the principal city and administrative seat of the autonomous region of Sicily.

Newcastle have been drawn against Latvian team Levadia (away in the first leg). Blackburn have drawn Salzburg (away in the first leg). Rangers have been drawn against Molde (away in the first leg). Hearts have drawn Sparta (away in the first leg). Tottenham will play Slavia Prague (away in first leg).
