Baby Bentley Set to Leave

West Ham have announced that they have agreed to sell Nigel Reo-Coker to Aston Villa for £8.5 million. The transfer is subject to Reo-Coker passing a medical and agreeing personal terms. The club say the transfer is likely to be completed in the next 24 hours.

Nigel Reo-Coker took the brunt of the blame for West Ham's poor start to last season and many West Ham fans will be happy to see him leave. In signing Scott Parker for £7 million I think West Ham have a better central midfielder and will emerge richer to the tune of £1.5 million. So not a bad bit of business.

Undoubtedly Reo-Coker was poorly advised by his agent and there was evidence that he felt he should be at a bigger club but it is a shame he couldn't be sold on Eggy's vision for the club. At 23 he is still a young player with potential. Unfortunately it won't now be realised at West Ham.

West Ham have also confirmed that Teddy Sheringham has joined Colchester as a player/coach on a free transfer. Sheringham played an important role in West Ham's promotion back to the Premier League but has seen his chances of first team football dwindle in the last two years.
