Ashton Off The Mark

A 3-0 scoreline was probably a bit flattering today with the defence looking distinctly dodgy at times. After the game Curbishley said the defence looked a bit 'leggy' because three of the back four had played international games midweek.

Bellamy was another player who seems to have suffered from his international commitments. Curbishley's explanation of Bellamy's injury was a little incoherent but it doesn't sound too worrying,

"Bellamy? He’s been complaining about his groin and he needed a fitness test before Reading. We all knew what he did midweek and he just felt he couldn’t run. Shattered. We’ll have to assess that tomorrow. We’ll just have to get on with it.

But that is enough with the negatives because everything else is rosy. Ashton is off the mark, Bowyer got his second, Etherington is still looking good, Cole set up two goals and West Ham are fifth in the league with a game in hand over the two teams immediately above.

p.s. £16 million for Darren Bent - Sp@~rs you were robbed.
