West Ham Can Sign One Player

The Times claim that Alan Curbishley has been told he can make only one signing this January and that West Ham have put on hold contract negotiations with a number of players.

Dean Ashton was rumoured to be in talks about renewing his contract before Christmas and The Times say Lucas Neill and Matthew Etherington were also in talks to extend their contracts. The paper says Neill has been seeking parity with the high wages that some of the summer signings were given. The Times doesn't say why they think contract negotiations have put on hold.
