Upson to Miss Rest of Season

Setanta are reporting that West Ham's Matthew Upson may miss the rest of the season because of a calf injury he picked up against Liverpool. Setanta claim that scans show this it is a recurrence of an injury that kept him out for the final three months of last season.

The West Ham official site has asked anyone attending Tuesday's game to bring their boots as there is a chance you will get a game.

This is the type of thing that makes me think, thank god we re safe. had we been sitting in 13th to 15th places, facing the rest of the season without upson would be a real worry.

this player has spent a lot of time and effort in terms of fitness and injury prevention, so it s really ashame to see it turn out this way. But it relates to a recent thread on the blog about injuries at the club. This is a guy who really looks after himself with respect to training.

I guess this means the young tomkins may see quite a bit of football the next few weeks

Is it just me or can he not jump - always beaten in the air, very slow, poor distribution skills very overrated or perhaps he just looks like that from where i sit

I honestly think he s had a good season and has progressed a lot,but at the beginning of the season i had real doubts as u do now. Think back to newcastle away for example- i felt he came up short there. But on the whole, especially from october onwards ,i think he s done well
