West Ham All to Play For
Sunday's game against Aston Villa remains an important game for both West Ham and Villa. West Ham need to win to ensure they finish in tenth spot, above T#ttenham. Villa need to win and hope Everton lose to qualify for Europe.
Mervyn Day says that West Ham's chances could be boosted by the return of Ferdinand and Upson,
"Ferdinand was running on the pitch (at Old Trafford) before the game so we're hopeful that he might have a chance of being fit. Matty did some running on Friday so we're hopeful but we've been hopeful of a few of them for three or four weeks."
West Ham could also be boosted by the return of Julien Faubert.

big game for both sides ,made even more interesting by the return of Reo Coker. Based on last Saturday one wud think this one is beyond us, except that Villa seemed less than their sparkling best last saturday ,and cud buckle under the pressure of knowing they MUST win to have any shot at a UEFA place .
One wud also think that given the poor performance last week, and that this is the final home game, and final fixture of the season, that our players will be motivated to end the season on a positive note.
I think to not only finish in tenth, but to cross teh 50 point barrier against a decent side ,in Villa, wud send the players off into the close season with abit of added pride, and indeed optimism for the coming season. It may not seem like a huge difference between finishing on 48 or 49 points and being pipped to tenth place , as opposed to maintaining a top 10 place and surpassing 50 points ,but I think it wud mean a lot to all connected to the club.
It may sound silly and a bit unfair, ,but I think that Curbishley will be judged a lot more kindly if we win this. I don t think that is lost on the manager at all, and I think the way the players respond on Sunday will say quite a bit about the state of the relationship between Curbishley and his players. There is a lot more at stake than the extra 10 or 20 k or whatever the amount that each player stands to receieve should we win.
