West Ham Agree to Sell Anton

According to The Independent West Ham and Sunderland have agreed an £8 million fee for Anton Ferdinand. However the paper says it is not clear if Ferdinand will want to move to the North-East.

Even though Ferdinand has not been a particular favourite of the fans over the last couple of years I think things could turn very ugly for the Icelandic owners if this goes ahead. I'm pretty sure we were promised that the club would no longer be selling off it's best young players. If Ferdinand goes and no more players are brought in I think it will be a clear signal that the new owners are out to milk the club.

If its true he didn't agree to the contract, you think its better to keep him another year and get nothing rather than an £8 million fee?

I don't think it means a thing about the owners intentions.

If they sell Deano, then yes--it means what you say.

Yes, crap article. Infact the author is a complete moron.

We are selling him for 8mil when we already have atleast another 5 players who can play in his position. He has a year left.. Get rid!!

stroke of genius that, selling zamora and pantsil. real class act that , and real class journalism that, supporting that decision.

1 game played and already we re without 2 top strikers. Oh, yeah, it made so much sense to sell zamora then didn t.

oh an disn t just grand that Boa Morte had to come in at left back on saturday. just so clever to have sold pantsil for a pittance then wasn t it.

anton ferdinand ,that pillar of discipline. that fine upstanding citizen who does such a good job marking opponents on set pieces. and who never gets injured. so , so reliable that young lad. 8 million is way too low for such brilliance...

can t teach that . keep going. maybe you ll land that tabloid job after all. at this rate you re not only losing readers faster than WHU are losing season ticket holders ,you re going to lose sponsor as well.

Still think sarcasm pays? Still think it pays to slag off a player who left WHU not because he wanted to, but because the owner was dumb enough to sell him, clever clogs?

Ah - my dream of landing a job in tabloid journalism. It might be difficult to attain because apparently I'm a complete moron. Thank you so much for your kind words. I bet you bring a little sunshine into the lives of everyone you meet.

I agree £8 million for Ferdinand would be good business if he isn't going to sign another contract and if the club are going to reinvest the money.

I think Ferdinand has two years on his contract so we can wait another year before selling.

Maybe we have 5 players who can play in his position. However most of them are injured and of those only Gabbidon in my eyes comes close to Ferdinand as a defender at the moment.

I've just read on KUMB that if we sell Ferdinand West Ham would be left with just two fit central defenders - Calum Davenport and Matthew Upson, who both played in the Wigan game. Jon Spector, Danny Gabbidon, James Collins and James Tomkins are all injured and not expected to return for some time.

We are meant to have a few deals pending, which would be another striker and defender so the money would fund these 2 new players, anton is good but not great and he will never be as good as his brother

Anton is ok but not great £8 mill is a good price and off he goes. Would be nice to see that money either re invested or stabalising WHU financially, so we are no over a barrel all the time, and having to sell people like Zamora and Pantsil, both of whom i would have liked to see play more.

We have load in that position but all seem to be injury prone. It is woryying to be relying on Upson and Davenport as Davenport is not that great and both of them have had a history of injury only surpassed by the Welsh lads.

Is it too much to ask for some fit players. The only position i feel confident of having fit players is in goal.

If we could get a quality striker and defender in then that would be brilliant.

There have been rumours for a couple of weeks that the owners were looking to take £7 million out of the club and were therefore looking to sell a player. I might be being overly pessimistic but I took this news as confirmation of the rumour.

I would be very happy if we get 8mill for Anton. He's not that good, a complete day dreamer, and 4th choice in my list of current players we have on the books.
Take the money . .. . buy no one . . I don't really care, because he's a liability and we'll let in less goals without him

You could be right. They could be taking the money out of the club. Not good if they are. Dont mind if they are stabalising it but to take it out is just such bad news. Lose a centre bakc and 8million. Ace

Is it not just we have lost the case to the northern pie eaters and are selling players to get the money for their compensation?
