West Ham Sign Savio

West Ham have confirmed the signing of Savio Nsereko from Brescia on a four-and-a half-year contract. The fee is undisclosed but the rumours have suggested a figure as much as £9 million which would make Savio West Ham's record purchase.

West Ham United CEO Scott Duxbury said,

"We are delighted to sign Savio, particularly with the fierce competition for his services across Europe. He is an exciting prospect, who Gianfranco Zola believes will prove a valuable asset for this club now and in the years to come. It is a significant investment and shows our determination to continue moving this club forward."

Savio was the player of the tournament at the 2008 UEFA European U19 Championship.

The Telegraph say that subject to international clearance he will make his debut in the Premier League clash against Hull on Wednesday.
