The People say that West Ham are after Middlesbrough right back Matthew Bates as a replacement for skipper Lucas Neill. They claim Neill can leave Upton Park for around £2 million and if a buyer comes in they will go for Bates - and Boro have enough cover in his position to let the 22-year-old go.

The News of the World say that West Ham will offer new deals to Scott Parker and Robert Green immediately and renew Matthew Upson's contract in the summer. However the same article claims West Ham will make a move for 'Fiorintina’s Italian under-21 forward Pablo Daniel Osvaldo'.
