West Ham to Move for Luca Toni

The Guardian say that West Ham are in advanced talks with Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni about bringing the Italian World Cup winner to Upton Park in next month's transfer window.

However the paper claim any move "may be dependent on how soon Carlton Cole returns from injury." This seems unlikely if, as reported on the West Ham website, Cole is only out for a matter of weeks.

Luca Toni has had repeated run-ins with Bayern's manager Louis van Gaal and has only 18 months left on his contract. It seems likely that Toni will move to another club in January and that he will be available on the cheap.
