West Ham Close to Signing Velthuizen

Dutch football magazine Voetbal International say West Ham are close to signing goalkeeper Piet Velthuizen. The 23-year-old Dutch keeper is currently at Vitesse Arnhem.


The Daily Mirror say that Pablo Barrera has agreed to join West Ham but may not automatically get a work permit. The Mirror say Barrera's international appearance record over the past two years is below the necessary level for an automatic work permit.


The Daily Mirror has twisted what Avram Grant said in his press conference yesterday into a warning to Matthew Upson. They claim Grant has told Upson to 'sign a new deal or go'. Avram Grant said no such thing in the press conference.
