Wigan opened the scoring at the end of the first half when Lee McCulloch shot right-footed from 30 yards into the top of the West Ham net. In the second half Marlon Harewood equalised scoring right-footed from the left side of the six-yard box.

In injury time Reo-Coker won the game for the Hammers, latching on to a Sheringham pass.
