Tyrone Mears for West Ham?

West Ham are reported to be buying Preston North End defender Tyrone Mears after the player failed to report back to Deepdale for pre-season training. PNE manager Paul Simpson says on the club's website,

"He's gone down to London for talks and we've just got to wait and see what happens. The situation was that Tye decided that he wanted to go and get an opportunity to play in the Premiership so he's gone for talks and we'll just wait and see. A fee has been agreed and it's a little bit awkward with him going today in all honesty. It would have been better if it was all sorted before now but that's life, we have to get on with it and deal with it."
