Palermo on Fire

West Ham's UEFA cup opponents, Palermo, lead Serie A after their third successive league win against Catania. Palermo won the game 5-3 and have so far earnt maximum points in the league.

They have now scored 11 goals in just three league games. However there is still hope for West Ham because as well as being Series A's top scorers they also have the league's worst defensive record, having conceded 7. The Scilian side also have a tough game on Saturday against second placed near-neighbours Messina before facing West Ham next Thursday.
