Ferdinand Trial - Day Three

In day three of Anton Ferdinand's trial the West Ham defender admitted to throwing the first punch but said it was because of his fear of being mugged. Ferdinand said he had been robbed the year before which made him want to avoid going through it again. Therefore when one of a group of men outside Faces Nightclub threatened to kill his friend he threw the first punch,

"For all I knew he had a knife. It worries me people who are prepared to start a fight do not do so without carrying a weapon."
