West Ham 0 Man Utd 1

The first half was a fairly even affair with West Ham maybe just shading it on the number of chances created.

In the 11th minute Neill's shot from the edge of the area was saved low down by Van der Sar. A minute later and Cole was played clear and attempted to chip Van der Sar but it was easy for the keeper to save. In the 23rd minute Collison managed to weave his way into the box but in the end couldn't get a shot away. At the end of the half Noble found Cole just inside the area and Cole spun and shot but his shot was blocked.

Man Utd's best effort was when Ronaldo deflected a Scholes' shot goalwards and Green was forced to tip the ball over the bar. Man Utd's only other clear effort was a Ronaldo header that flew wide from a corner.

In the second half things were again very even with the only difference between the two teams being 10 seconds of individual brilliance from Giggs. West Ham started the second half well with efforts from Behrami, Noble and Neill in the first three minutes.

In defence West Ham looked pretty secure as well, until in the 62nd minute Giggs avoided a lunging tackle from Cole and then drifted into the box from the left wing where he shot low into the far corner to give Man Utd the lead.

After that West Ham looked reasonable going forward but never really looked like they would draw level. Their best chance came in the 69th minute when Cole tried a little inside flick from four yards but his effort was deflected wide.

In the end a draw would have been a fair result but for Giggs' little bit of magic.
