Transfer Speculation Season Starts

The People claim that West Ham's new owners are prepared to sell Matthew Upson. They say Villa are keen to buy.

'Not so', says the News of the World. They claim Upson is off to Man City, with Dean Sturridge coming the other way. The NoW also claim West Ham are confident of clinching the signing of Inter Milan's attacking midfield Luis Jiminez for around £3.5 and that club officials met with the FA on Friday to lobby for a 'special case' work permit for the Chilean.

The News of the World also say West Ham are among a number of clubs to have received a 34-page brochure from Michael Owen's agents, highlighting his goal scoring skills.

The Mirror claim that West Ham are after Juventus midfielder Tiago. Tiago has talked about his desire of leaving Italy.

The People say that Robert Green has rejected a new contract with West Ham but that he says he wants to stay at the club.
