The Speculation Mounts

Sky Sports claim West Ham have turned down a bid for Matthew Upson from Fiorentina.

The Sun claim that West Ham and Wolves are both in talks with Valencia striker Zigic.

In the Daily Express, Robert Green thinks West Ham will struggle to qualify for Europe with a smaller squad this season,

"We have doubled the striker tally now. But it would be nice to have three strikers. It will be harder to get into Europe this season because we have a smaller squad and other teams have strengthened.

The same few guys are going to have to battle hard throughout the season."

The Daily Mail says that Martin O'Neil wants to sign Upson or Collins. It doesn't say if it is O'Neil who can't make up his mind or whether the paper doesn't know which of the defenders he is interested in.

The Daily Star believe that West Ham and Stoke will make £2m bids for Sunderland defender Phil Bardsley.
