Come Back Eggy All is Forgiven

According to The Sun, despite being made the scapegoat for West Ham's current financial problems, Eggert Magnusson is keen to step in and rescue the club but "at nowhere near the current £100million price tag being touted."

The Sun don't explain how Eggy suddenly has millions of pounds to buy West Ham.

The paper also claim that the club is also talking to two other rival groups - one from Asia, the other American.

can we all ignore this 5:30am person who has a continual problem with the people running our club and perhaps he will get bored and go away.

why does no-one ever identify themselves here? 5.30 should show her name for example then we could all ignore her.

it's pretty obvious from the theme of the post it's the same person every day. you have got a point though mudslinger, it would give the posts some personality.

I too noticed this. It's easier to identify posters if we all post an ID, even if the more abusive ones stay as 'anonymous'.

The phrase 'be careful what you wish for' springs to mind when reading the posts against the Icelandics. Generally BG was a good owner by supporting all efforts to develop the team in the right way and not selling off our best players despite losing (I think it was) about £1.1bn in the credit crunch. He is now hundreds of millions in debt.

But the next lot may not necessarily be as good, especially if they are American. Americans don't really have a good record in the EPL so far, with the possible exception of Randy Lerner.

It's difficult to know what to wish for with the next owners, whoever they may be.

why does it always take west ham so long to find new owners, when other clubs takeovers happen over night. It makes me so anger because it means we can't move on and buy players the club need to progress, but only stare relegation in the face.

I can't see Eggy taking over unless it's as part of a consortium. Cottee has shown an interest in the past, again as part of a consortium of mystery participants.

We cannot get this deal done quickly because:

a) The price is too high so buyers are waiting for the price to drop.

b) Straumur won't drop the price because the club is worth £100m to them. Also they are in no hurry to sell.

c) There are probably less willing billionaire buyers around due to the econmomic climate.

Now if only we knew some rich people who love West Ham like Trevor Brooking...

Whatever happens I hope Sullivan stays well clear. We can do without a porn magnate at our club who is only capable of turning Birmingham into a yoyo club.
