Ashton to Hang Up Boots

The Daily Mail say that Dean Ashton is poised to announce his retirement from football. They say Ashton has been been told "by two world-renowned ankle specialists his chances of making a full recovery are not good."

The paper claims that West Ham has been told that Ashton's injury problems originate from his injury whilst on England duty. However any claims against the FA may be difficult as Ashton has made 31 appearances since that injury.

Another reason why the Icelandic rearwipes shud have made getting a partner for Cole top priority, and sorted it out during the pre-season. These FUNTS knew full well that at best,Ashton was unlikely to feature for the rest of 2009. Yet by opening day, they still hadn't gotten a striker. Franco is good but for the first 7 or 8 matches he was unavailable. And in truth ,we needed not one,but two forwards, as Cole was bound to get injured or suspended at some point. We didn t need Kovac,Nouble,Daprela or Da Costa, among others.

Funk off Icelandics. And funk off the fuppets who defend or support them. EFFING RICKS

Muppet

If true it makes you wonder yet again what is the point of mid season internationals and particularly pointless friendlies like next weekend. Can't remember if he was injured training for a pointless friendly or not but what a waste if it was.

This is profoundly sad news for Dean, WHU & England. I truly believethat Ashton could have been an amazing goalscorer for us and internationally. I wish him well for whatever he does next.
