Curbishley 1 West Ham 0

Alan Curbishley has won his case of constructive dismissal against West Ham. A tribunal will now decide on the level of compensation. For reference, Kevin Keegan won £2million in damages plus £1.5million in legal costs against Newcastle.

Curbishley said today,

"I am obviously delighted with this result. I very much enjoyed my time at West Ham and never wanted to leave, but on joining the club I insisted that my contract contained a clause confirming that I would have final say on the selection of players to be transferred to and from the club."

"The club completely ignored my contract when selling Anton Ferdinand, and when George McCartney was then sold, the club having given me assurances that no players would be leaving the club after the sale of Anton Ferdinand, I had no alternative but to resign.

"My authority and integrity were undermined and my position was made untenable. I now wish to put this entire matter behind me."

Just what the doctor ordered after payouts to Sheffield United, fines to come from the Millwall match, and paying 50 k a week to Dean Ashton for the past year. Typical shoddy business management and ownership. These idiots wud have been better off buying him out of the remainder of his contract and doing it honorably. But no- these scum can't do anything honorably. The Icelandic filth always have to try to do things on the sly. And always get caught out. Funk you Icelandics. You are the bottom of the barrel dregs of society

The level of compensation will take account the length of his remaining contract, and and subsequent employment he has enjoyed.

Compensation that Curbs deserved after the treatment he got as much as I never thought he was that great a manager. Another dent in the pocket

Given Curbishly's career to date would suggest he is a man of significant wealth and given that the club have been in much publicised serious financial difficulty for some time, I find it very surprising that one who claims that he and everyone he knows love West Ham would feel the need to add to the clubs financial woes.
