Dean Ashton Retires

Dean Ashton has finally announced his long rumoured retirement from football.

West Ham United CEO Scott Duxbury said,

"This is a sad day and our thoughts are with Dean. I would like to place on record our thanks to him for all his efforts and wish him the very best. I would also like to thank the fans for their patience and understanding during what has been a difficult time."

Ashton never really fully recovered from the broken ankle he picked up in training whilst on duty with England in August 2006. It is obviously a sad day for Dean Ashton and a big loss to West Ham.

I'm pretty certain that without the injury problems Ashton would have gone on to become a West Ham legend and a regular for England.

The rearwipes who "own" this club knew what the deal was with Ashton months ago. Yet they still failed to get adequate cover for Cole, and only managed to get a proper strike partner for Cole 1 month into the season.

Now ,as we face the 2 most important fixtures of the season to date,we have no Upson. And no Collins and no Neill. And these idiots think they can sell this club for 80 to 100 million? Why wud anyone in their right mind pay anywhere near that price ,for an asset-stripped club?

REMOVE THE ICELANDIC CANCER FROM WEST HAM UNITED NOW. THE LONGER YOU,ICELANPRICKS, THE UGLIER AND MORE PERSONAL THE ABUSE WILL GET.
