Scott Parker - Player of the Year

West Ham's Scott Parker has won the Football Writers' Footballer of the Year award.

FWA chairman Steve Bates said that,

"Parker has been so consistent this season with his performances in a West Ham team battling for Barclays Premier League survival and as such has forced himself back into the England national set-up.

"He has been an inspirational figure for the Irons and hopefully his professionalism will be rewarded with West Ham staying up at the end of the season."

The guy has been brilliant. It's just ashame that most of his colleagues have not. Especially those who had the potential to be influential players ,but who chose not to be . It must be incredibly frustrating for Parker to be playing in a squad where hardly anyone else puts in anywhere near the effort he does. It tells you just how poor teh rest of West Ham United have been this season that we have a player like Parker and an England goalkeeper, yet we have been relegation candidates the whole season.

Some players have some serious thinking to do . It is totally unacceptable how poor a number of high profile players have been, including both loan signings and veterans of the club. An absolute disgrace.
