West Ham 3 Brighton 0

As expected Curbishley changed the team for this game. Boa Morte made his début, Noble came in for Reo-Coker in midfield, McCartney replaced Konchesky and Cole and Tevez started up front.

West Ham started reasonably and in the 11th minute Boa Morte seemed to be taken down inside the box but the ref declined to give a penalty. However, as for much of this season, West Ham managed to play OK at times in the first half but seemed unable to create clear cut chances.

The best West Ham could manage was to create a couple of headed shots in the first half. In the 30th minute Carlton Cole, from the centre of the penalty area 12 yards out, headed over the bar.In the 33rd minute Yossi passed to Dailly who crossed to an unmarked Noble, but he couldn't get any power on the header from 12 yards which flew straight to Wayne Henderson.

At the end of the first half Ferdinand suffered a groin injury and was replaced by Spector. It was a bit of a half hearted performance in the first half and the half time whistle was met with some boos from the West Ham fans.

Four minutes into the second half however Luis Boa Morte crossed to Tevez, Tevez laid the ball back to Noble who volleyed the ball right-footed into the bottom-left of the net from 18 yards. Alan Curbishley then ran onto the pitch to berate his players for their over celebrations of the goal.

Nine minutes later Tevez crossed from the right wing, Cole couldn't get to the ball but Boa Morte retrieved the ball and crossed back into the box where Cole drilled the ball left-footed from 6 yards out for West Ham's second.

Cole was replaced by Zamora with about 20 minutes to go. Almost immediately Zamora tried to meet a Benayoun cross but used his hand to steer the ball goalwards. In the 70th minute Shaun Newton was brought on for Boa Morte. In the 77th minute Tevez beat Mayo and crossed for Benayoun who headed just wide.

In injury time Newton crossed from the left and Mullins headed the ball home to make it 3-0 to the Hammers.
