What Happened to Lucas Neill?

So we've been waiting all day for the official announcement of Neill's signing and what looked to have been a done deal has seemed less and less likely as the day has worn on.

Well according to The Daily Mail Blackburn are refusing to let Lucas Neill join West Ham unless they are offered Paul Konchesky in a straight swap. The Mail report that Neill had agreed a £50,000 a week deal but Mark Hughes is blocking the move even though the Australian full back will be out of contract in the summer.

With West Ham's current defensive crisis it is understandable that Curbishley is reluctant to let any players go. So it looks like a game of bluff now, will Blackburn allow Hughes to forego a transfer fee and hold onto a player who will obviously be unhappy at having his last big pay day denied?

We should meet him halfway before someone else makes a move, up the offer by a mil or so and we will have a quality defender on our books and lets be honest its been a while since any hammer fan could truthfully say that !!!

Do whatever it takes to get Neill to Upton Park. Quality defender, was awesome at the world cup, and got some Aussie grit which the Hammers could use!

Looks like Roeder just cant stop trying to scupper any deal we are involved with, the bar codes are now chasing Niel, I think its Roeders mission to see us go down
