Davenport, Neill and Blanco for West Ham

The Independent seem to be the first of the traditional news media to pick up on the Davenport rumour. They claim that yesterday Calum Davenport and Lucas Neill both had medicals at Upton Park while a loan bid for the Seville striker Kepa Blanco is expected to succeed late today.

The paper says that Davenport will make his debut against the barcodes on Saturday. However The Independent suggests that Neill is not so close to signing. "Although the 28-year-old travelled to London and has been offered a two-and-a-half-year contract, doubling his wages to £60,000-a-week, Blackburn remain reluctant to sell until they have a replacement and may try and hold Neill until the end of the season."

West Ham and Man City have been attempting to sign Kepa Blanco on a six month loan but the player is thought to favour West Ham with a view to a £4-5m transfer in the summer.

Kudos to Iain Dale for breaking the Davenport story first on his West Ham Till I Die blog. Iain, despite your deluded political views, you just earned yourself a permanent link to your blog. The latest story on Iain's blog has been posted from a bedroom inside Windsor Castle. He is obviously a man with some serious inside connections.
