Lazaradis Tests Positive for A Banned Substance
Ex-West Ham player Stan Lazaridis has tested positive for finasteride, a substance that can be used for a masking agent for other performance enhancing drugs. Lazaradis and his Australian club however claim that Lazaridis was given permission by the Australian Sports Drug Medical Advisory Committee to use the treatment containing the banned substance because of a medical condition. The medical condition in question is believed to be hair loss.
Use of finasteride normally carries a maximum two-year ban.
