West Ham Charged

The Premier League has charged West Ham with breaching the rules in the signings of Argentine duo Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano in August.

West Ham have fourteen days to respond the allegations after which the league will decide on its punishment. With West Ham's current ability to defend a points deduction seems inevitable.

The league's statement can be read on their official site.

West Ham's response to the charge has been to announce a deal with Umbro to produce the club's kits from next season.

West Ham have now officially responded to the charge by saying that "the Club will vigorously defend itself against the charge".
