West Ham Seek Ashton Compensation

With news that Newcastle look set to receive £10 million in compensation from the FA for being injured on England duty West Ham fans have been asking, "What about Dean Ashton?" Well, according to The Guardian, West Ham have already received £300,000 from the FA, which was paid in advance whilst the case is looked into by the FA's insurers. The paper says the club is becoming frustrated at the delays in the remaining £1 million in compensation that the club believes is owed them.

The discrepancy between the compensation for Owen and Ashton comes from the fact that the FA pays the wages of injured players. Which presumably means Owen earns around ten times as much as Ashton.

In other news The Daily Star say that Alan Curbishley's future as West Ham boss could be in doubt despite him leading them to Premiership safety last season. That's why West Ham have just let him appoint a new first team coach then.
