Geordies Up the Ante

After agreeing to sell Kieron Dyer for £6 million Newcastle are now saying they want £8 million for the player. The story coming out of Newcastle is that new chairman Mike Ashley is annoyed at the way the Hammers approached the midfielder and accused them of unsettling the 28-year-old before they were given permission to speak to him.

West Ham deny they approached the player and you would think it would be a hard story to spin considering that Fat Sam has been more or less publically pleading for someone to buy Dyer for a number of weeks.

£8 million for an injury prone player is a huge risk. I wonder how much Dyer would go for in January after six months of disrupting the dressing room at St James' Park?
