West Ham 0 Man City 0

Ashton and Etherington were brought back into the first eleven as Curbishley started with a more attacking line up than against Man Utd and Arsenal.

Man City had the better of the possession in the first half but a strong West Ham defence restricted them to just one chance on goal whilst creating more opportunities themselves on the break.

City's chance fell to Ireland from a Petrov cross in the 15th minute. His right-footed shot from the right side of the penalty area was tipped over the bar by Robert Green. In the 25th minute West Ham had a similar chance when a cross by Hayden Mullins was met by Matthew Etherington, who drilled a left-footed shot from the left side of the penalty area, which was tipped over by Hart.

In the 33rd minute Mark Noble took a free kick 20 yards out. His right footed shot was tipped round the post by Hart.

In the second half Neil was replaced by Spector. In the 48th minute City doubled their shots on target when Ireland shot right footed from 18 yards but his shot was blocked by McCartney. In the 62nd minute Mullins shot left-footed from the right channel from 20 yards but missed wide of the left hand post. In the 66th minute Spector shot over from 6 yards.

In the 69th minute Etherington was replaced by Reid. Then in the 75th minute Bowyer came on for Mullins. West Ham's best chance of the half came in the 84th minute when Ashton met a Reid cross with his head from 6 yards and Hart was forced to tip the ball over the bar.

With both sides seeming to lack a real goal threat up front the game ended a goalless draw.
