Gudmundsson to Sell West Ham

The Mail and The Star both say today that Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson is ready to sell West Ham and that there is a cash rich buyer in the wings. Both seem to think that the Iclandic Government's threat to freeze the assets of some of its top businessmen will lead Gudmundsson to sell.

However WH Holdings Ltd is registered in the UK and out of the reach of the Icelandic government so the logic doesn't really hold.

im not sure how good their government actually is so they may just freeze his other assets.

I think the fact the club is facing a £30 million payout, added to the loss of sponsorship and the financial situation facing Gudmundsson (whatever WHUFC might officially say, there is no way his financial situation cannot currently be perilous at a minimum), means that if there is a willing buyer, he will probably consider selling.

But I don't think he has 'no choice', as the newspapers are reporting.

I think it is "Goodbye West Ham", at least they will still get to play Spurs next season ;-)
