West Ham Saturday Gossip

The Express claim that West Ham boss Gianfranco Zola is hoping to tie defender Lucas Neill to a new deal, although the Australian international may be asked to take a wage cut.

The Mirror say West Ham have snapped up a graduate from Portsmouth defender Glen Johnson's soccer school. The Portsmouth defender has confirmed that nine-year-old Jake Eggleton has just been recruited by West Ham.

The Mirror also say that Marlon Harewood will complete a loan move to Championship leaders Wolves on Monday.

The Sun say that West Ham manager Gianfranco Zola insists that four more wins will earn a European spot for the club. "I believe 52 points should get you into seventh spot and Europe. So we are 12 points short. We have achieved our first target of 40 points, so now there’s a new one. My team has shown it is strong, mentally strong."

The Daily Star claim that, as well as the agreed compensation, West Ham have also agreed to pay a large contribution towards Sheffield United's legal fees. So West Ham have in effect paid Sheffield United for suing them.
