Ilunga & McCarthy to Wednesday

Inter Milan have not renewed Victor Obinna's contract. Obinna says,

"Inter have no more say about me. I had a loan deal until the end of the season with an option on my contract to be registered before the end of January for 2011 and 2012, but they (Inter) did not register it."

This presumably means that Obinna will be available on a free contract in the summer. It seems likely that Obinna will have a number of clubs chasing his signature.

Sheffield Wednesday are in talks with West Ham to take McCarthy and Ilunga on loan until the end of the season.

Gary Megson said today,

"We are trying to get both players in and the two clubs have been in dialogue for a few days."

Although I've been critical of Obinna in the past due to his lack of end product he's worth having on a free transfer. If he starts playing for the team more he could turn out to be excellent.

I would have thought it would be worth keeping Ilunga as back up, but it's clear that he and McCarthy are on their way, if not to Wednesday then somewhere else.

there was not enough room for ilunga in teh 25 man squad, and based on his performances this season ,including against forest ,for good reason.
Good riddance if we can loan these two out and at least reduce the wage billa tad.

Agree that for much of teh season Obinna has lacked an end product, and not played with enough respect for his teammates, but in recent appearances he has shown what he can do when he focuses and controls his temper .
