Man City 2 West Ham 1
Any hopes West Ham had of getting anything out of this game seemed to be squashed by two City goals in the opening fifteen minutes. The fist came in the 11th minute when a long range De Jong effort flew through a crowd of players and beat a diving Green. Four minutes later and Silva chipped a ball over the West Ham defence. Zabaleta took the ball on his chest and his shot could only be knocked into his own net by Jacobsen.
West Ham were given a glimmer of hope when Keane was played clean through after half an hour. However Hart rushed out of goal and Keane was unable to dink the ball over the keeper. West Ham then managed to keep the ball in the City half and five minutes later got a goal back. City failed to clear a Hitzlsperger deep ball into the area and Ba was able to smash the ball home from 10 yards.
In the second half Balotelli had two great chances to extend City's lead. In the 55th minute the striker hit the crossbar from 14 yards. Then in the 63rd minute, after Silva had beaten Green and laid the ball on the plate to Balotelli, his shot from 10 yards was blocked by Tomkins on the line.
In between Balotelli's two chances Da Costa forced a save from Hart with a header from 10 yards. Apart from those chances the only other clear cut chance came from a deflected shot by Silva, which Green managed to tip over the bar and a late effort from 20 yards by Cole which was blocked five yards from goal by the City defence.
Today was another reasonable performance from West Ham with nothing to show for it. There are now three games left and it looks like West Ham will need at least two wins and a draw to have any chance of staying up.

This is very much in our hands ,especially if Wolves fail to beat WBA
two wins in the last three can do it. but grant has to go weather we stay up or go down. where is jack collison, hines, stanislas, so much talent yet boa morte gets a start ??????????
What is it with Grant and Boa Morte???

First of all Boa Morte had a good game today. Secondly , he had not started in awhile. Thirdly Stanislas is not fit. And finally ,Collison hasn't played in nearly a year and Hines is simply not good enough nor experienced enough to start.
There were people at fault for teh two goals we conceded and Boa Morte was not one of them. Take a look at Hitzlsperger ,who was downright poor when we needed him to step up and put a shift in with no Parker or Noble.
Agree that even if we do stay up,Grant is gone. Too weak a manager, and not good enough tactically. Whatever division we play in,we need a manager who rules with an iron fist and does not put up with teh assorted garbage on display this season on and off the pitch.
Hitzlsperger: you should be embarrassed at the appalling way in which you turned your back on De Jong as he shot, Pretty bad combination-being too slow to come out to meet the ball and being a coward. And this guy gets £50,000 a week or more to show no urgency and to be a coward. Total disgrace
There is hope for us yet-Bin Laden has been executed
Boa Morte show some fight and got stuck in more then hitzsperger, that game was there for the taking.
If yesterday's game gave any pointers, Hitzlsperger and Upson are not up for it. Keane is 2 years past it. Sears and Boa M and Spector showed appetite which overcomes lack of tech ability at this stage. The back 4 post Upson and especially when Boa M went CMD to protect looked sound. Green top class, just not too sure about the rest. With SP back if his mate, Dirty Arry's son, hasn't got to him and no Upson and Keane we might just stay up!!
