Owners Loan West Ham £30 million
The News of the World and The Star say West Ham are chasing Newcastle's Alan Smith.
The Mirror claim that Aston Villa tried to clinch a deal with Kevin Nolan but that Nolan refused to do a U-turn after giving his word to West Ham co-owner David Sullivan that he would move to West Ham if they could reach an agreement with Newcastle.
The Mirror also report that David Sullivan and David Gold have given West Ham an interest free £30m loan to keep West Ham afloat. Sullivan says,
"We have now put in £30m to keep the club afloat and fund transfers. We expect that figure to rise."

Not sure about alan smith, not that great of player. Good for kevin nolan to keep his word,that what we need some loyalalty not like some west ham player's who jump ship.

Alan Smith is past it ,and was never as good as the player himself thought that he was. His attitude also stinks- a real discipline problem. If we were going to go down that road I wud prefer to see Bowyer back,who at least still delivers the goods.
Alan Smith is another Tony Fernandes or Inane Dickdale- all talk and no action
I never get this about football...if you own a football club, how can you 'loan' it money...you would in effect be loaning yourself money
Any idea what's happened to Faubert?
