West Ham Sign Tyrone Mears

More good news as West Ham sign their second player of the day in Preston North End defender Tyrone Mears.

The 23-year-old right-back has put pen to paper on a four-year deal at Upton Park and becomes Alan Pardew's second signing in the space of a few hours following the arrival of Carlton Cole from Chelsea earlier this evening.

Tyrone has signed for an initial £1 million fee, which could rise to £1.9 million depending on appearances and future international recognition with England.

Although neither Carlton Cole nor Tyrone Mears are the established players of proven quality that the fans were hoping for both have youth on their side and Pardew has so far proved astute in spotting young players of talent.
