West Ham Press Conference

West Ham today held a press conference with Dean Ashton, Scott Parker, Alan Curbishley, Eggert Magnusson and someone from the new sponsors XL Leisure.

Scott Parker was pressed about his relationship with Alan Curbishley. Parker and Curbishley both stressed that their problems were water under the bridge.

Ashton was asked about his fitness and replied,

"My rehab's going well. I'm more than hopeful that I'll start pre-season with all the other players."

A reporter asked Curbishley if it felt like having a new £10 million signing to have Dean Ashton back. Eggert Magnusson interrupted and said,

"He is worth more than £10 million ... much more."

Magnusson also spoke confidently today about keeping hold of Carlos Tevez,

"Tevez has a contract with West Ham for three more years and I am confident he will be here next season. He's a great player, a great lad, everyone loves him around the club - and I think he'll be playing here next season."

The West Ham chairman also announced that the club is looking to bring in three more quality players before the start of next season and "for quality players you have to pay a price."
