West Ham Match Review

The Express say West Ham started the more confidently and "imposed themselves on Bolton" but that Bolton "forced their way back into the reckoning with their forthright, direct style."

The Daily Mail says that "without question, West Ham threw this one away." West Ham started well and "they had chances to increase their lead."

The Daily Telegraph were impressed with Bolton's 'belligerence and bloody-mindedness'. The game was 'fraught and messy' but "lit up by West Ham's Northern Ireland international left-back, George McCartney".

The Guardian thought the game 'dire' and 'wretched'. Carlton Cole was isolated up front for West Ham. Bolton were "unyielding and a menace from set pieces."

The Times say West Ham "conceded possession as quickly as it was gained." The game was 'wretched' and "George McCartney’s crisp strike was out of synch with the dross on show."

The Independent believe West Ham "turned a well-executed dive into a messy bellyflop," and are not the only paper to remark on the fact that all West Ham's goals this season have been scored by British players.
