West Ham 1 Bolton 1

What can you say. With two minutes remaining of injury time Matthew Etherington had the ball in the corner of the opposition's half and all he had to do was keep the ball. Inexplicably he pumped the ball into the box. Pantsil tried a 20 yard volley that screwed off his foot back to Etherington. The West Ham winger now had another chance to just run down the clock for a West Ham win but he decided to put the ball back in the box. Bolton won the ball, got it up the other end and a minute later had equalised the game.

It seems a little unfair to single out Etherington from a woeful West Ham team. The only highlight for West Ham that I can think off was McCartney's wonderful goal.

Curbishley can't even really blame the loss of his central midfield, that meant West Ham ended the game with two right backs as their central midfield pairing. West Ham were just as bad before the departure of Mullins and later Bowyer.
