Ashton and Sears Shine for Reserves

West Ham Reserves won 1-3 away to Sp@~s with goals from Sears and Ashton. West Ham put out a strong side with Pantsil and Zamora also in the starting line-up. West Ham also had a young Ludek Miklosko on the bench, who at 46 years of age is obviously a goalkeeper to look out for in the future.

Tottenham opened the scoring in the 34th minute through Rose (not Archibald-Henville as the West Ham official site has it). However West Ham drew level through Sears on the stroke of half-time. Sears received the ball with his back to goal and turned and shot home from ten yards.

In the 68th minute Sears set up Ashton to score from close range. In the 73rd minute Ashton repaid Sears by setting him up as he sped into the box where the youngster calmly slotted the ball home.

With Sears in this sort of form he must be getting very close to at least a place on the first team bench. Worryingly Zamora didn't emerge for the second half.

I liked this little exchange on the KUMB forum tonight:
  • We are going to turn this kid into Jesus II on here, aren't we?
  • No, he's God already.
