West Ham's January Bid for Brown
Manchester United chief executive David Gill has revealed that West Ham enquired about purchasing Wes Brown in the January transfer window. He also says that Newcastle had a bid turned down for the player.
Brown's contract talks with United have stalled and Brown's present contract runs out in the summer.

it s an interesting situation,in that obviously the player has good experience,both for club and country ,but that s one part of the pitch where we don t seem short of talent. saying that ,if he could play right back, as opposed to center back, he cud provide cover,and competition for lucas neill ,which wudn t be a bad thing.he cud be useful, but i d prefer to see us spend on a striker.
