West Ham Youth Will Get Their Chance

A couple of weeks ago I raised the question of whether Freddie Sears might get a chance in the West Ham first team before the season was out. Some of the West Ham forums have also been debating about whether one or two West Ham youngsters should get some experience with the first team.

It is nice to see then that the official West Ham website have raised the question with the West Ham manager and that Alan Curbishley seems to think that the idea has merit.

"We are really pleased with Freddie (Sears) - the last couple of months he has come on a bundle," said Curbishley. "He has been around the first team and has been around the squad training with us. We have got high hopes for him. I would not be afraid to play Tomkins, Collison and Sears.

"We have got 13 games left and I need to look at one or two things - other clubs will do the same. Obviously Tomkins and Collison have been around it for the last couple of months. Freddie has been in the squad on a couple of occasions. I am not afraid to put them in. I will put them in if I think it is right."

sears seems to be having a very productive season-would be good if he did get a chance as a sub before the season is out. in situations where curbishley has put on camara as a sub, perhaps it s worth giving sears a shot instead.
