Intertoto Cup

I hear on the grapevine that Aston Villa, Sp@~s and Blackburn have applied for the Intertoto Cup. It seems West Ham doesn't think the extra competitive matches in the summer are worth the effort.

I think that this might be the last season for this back door entry into Europe (it is ending in 2009, so it might be the penultimate year).

West Ham won the Intertoto in 1999. It seemed to work as good preparation for that league season as we went onto to win six of our opening nine games.

might not be a bad idea to participate as it wud allow players who have missed large portions of this season a chance to get fitness/sharpness like dyer, faubert, parker

we did win six from nine we also were completely burnt out by chrismas and struggled for the remaining seaon. That said we should enter the intertoto cup even if it is used as a competitive pre season. we have a much bigger squad now and i am sure all the players would benefit.
