West Ham After Michael Owen

The Daily Mirror in their second unlikely story of the day say West Ham are monitoring Michael Owen's situation at Newcastle. The paper claims that Owen wants another four year contract at the club on his present salary of £5 million a year. If the barcodes don't agree to his terms then The Mirror claims they face losing him on a free at the end of next season.

Just what West Ham need, another ex-Newcastle player on high wages who might be fit enough to manage three or four games a season.
