Newcastle Target West Ham's Ashton

The Daily Mirror are today rehashing the rumour that Kevin Keegan wants to sign Dean Ashton in the summer. The problem with this rumour is that with Keegan's current record at the club and Newcastle's history with managers Keegan is unlikely to be in charge come the summer.

West Ham loanee Joe Widdowson is expected to make his debut for Rotherham against Wycombe today. Widdowson joined the Millers on a month-long loan deal from West Ham this week. He turned out for their reserves mid-week and will probably be in the first team today.

The Marie Curie Cancer Care charity wants people to sign up for a freefall abseil from the roof of the Bobby Moore Stand at West Ham United's stadium on Saturday March 8. The West Ham United stadium abseil is open to anyone over the age of 16 and offers a great opportunity to raise vital funds for charity in one of the most exciting ways possible, said a spokeswoman.

Participants do not need to be particularly fit or have any experience of abseiling- they just need to be a bit daring and prepared to go over the edge for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

All money raised will be spent on providing high quality nursing, totally free, to give terminally ill people across Newham the choice of dying at home supported by their families.

For more information about the abseil contact Natallie Walters on (020) 7599 7790 or visit http://www.mariecurie.org.uk

given that toon have viduka ,it doesn t seem logical for them to require another player in that vein. with players like martins and owen ,they don t seem short of striking options either- their problems look to be more in defense. the lower quality ragsheets seem hellbent on creating fiction regarding ashton ,instead of reporting fact.
