Sunderland Bid for Cole

The Daily Mirror say that Sunderland are bidding £2 million for West Ham's Carlton Cole. They say that Keane sees Cole as the perfect partner for Kenwyne Jones. However Celtic and Middlesbrough.

The Mail say that West Ham could offload big earners Lucan Neill (sic), Freddie Ljungberg and Kieron Dyer. I hear there is a big market for players that have been out for a season injured.

As for Cole £2mill wouldnt get you a championship striker! But I agree Carltons days SHOULD be numbered. SOLD! To the first reasonable bid!

I have a word problem for you guys.

If Alan Smith at 27 is worth 6 million and Carlton Cole at 24 is worth 2 million, then how daft does that make Roy Keane?

Between them Cole and Jones should contribute 10 goals a season. I liek Cole's work rate but he just deosn't score enough goals. But until we sign some more fowrads we really aren't in a position to sell. Ashton and Bellamy aren't exactly guaranteed to be fit week in week out. The opposite is a more likely scenario. TWhat's interesting is that, despite one of the worst scoring records in the league, is the lack of reports linking us to potential signings. To me this signals either that Curbs days are numbered of that there is no money!

good point made by last post- wjether u rate Cole or not ,and I do think he adds value, we are in no position to sell him, as we lack fit forwards. we cannot count on bellamy and ashton being fit regularly.
